You Never Have to Apologize Here: A Compassionate Facial in Colorado Springs Is More Than Skin Care

Esthetician gently cradling a relaxed client’s face during a calm facial treatment
A quiet hour that belongs to you.

This content is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for medical advice.

Sometimes it happens in the quietest part of a facial. The lights are low. The warm towels are on. The music is soft, and my hands are moving slowly across a client’s skin. And then, without warning, there are tears.

Sometimes my client doesn’t know why. Sometimes she tells me she just needed a moment. Sometimes she says nothing at all. And very often, the first words out of her mouth are “I’m so sorry.”

Here is what I always want her to hear: you never have to apologize here.

That moment, and every client who has ever had one on my table, is the reason I wrote this post. It is also the reason Soluna Vee Spa exists the way it does.

A Moment That Happens More Often Than You Think

When people picture a facial, they usually picture skin. Cleansing, exfoliation, a mask, glowing results. And yes, skin is what I am trained in and what I love. But after years in the treatment room, I can tell you that what happens on the table is often about so much more.

Clients have let go of tears they did not know they were holding. Some have shared that it was the first hour in weeks when no one needed anything from them. Others simply rest, breathe deeply, and leave a little lighter than they came in.

Recently, the Autumn 2026 issue of ASCP Skin Deep, the professional magazine for estheticians, published an article by Marjorie Erickson about supporting clients who carry trauma. Her message stayed with me: estheticians have the power to make a difference, often without ever knowing it. A gentle touch, a calm room, and a caring professional can become part of someone’s path forward.

I read that article and thought, this is exactly what I try to do every day.

Why Clients Sometimes Let Go on the Facial Table

There is a simple, very human reason this happens. Most of us spend our days holding it together. We work, we care for our families, we answer messages, we keep going. Our bodies stay on alert.

Then you lie down in a quiet, warm room. Someone is caring for you with slow, gentle touch. Your phone is put away. Nobody needs an answer from you. For many people, that is when the body finally gets permission to soften.

Feelings that were waiting in the background can rise to the surface. That is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is your body taking a breath it has needed for a long time.

As an esthetician, I am not a therapist, and a facial is not a replacement for care from a doctor or counselor. What I can offer is something that supports the care you already have: a calm space, safe touch, and a professional who will never rush you or judge you.

What a Compassionate Facial in Colorado Springs Looks Like at Soluna Vee Spa

You may have heard me talk about the Compassionate Facial Series, the specialty facials I designed for sensitive, compromised, and oncology-related skin. Those treatments are still at the heart of my menu.

But compassion at Soluna Vee Spa means more than gentle products. It is the way I care for every client who walks through my door, no matter which service they book.

Here is what that looks like in practice.

A private, peaceful room

Soluna Vee Spa is a private skin sanctuary. It is just you and me. There is no busy front desk, no crowded hallway, no rushing between rooms. The space is designed to feel calm the moment you walk in.

Time that belongs to you

Your appointment is your time. If you need a few extra minutes to settle in, or a quiet moment after your treatment before you head back to your day, that is part of the experience.

Intentional touch

It is the belief my whole practice is built on: skill can treat the skin, but intentional touch has the power to restore the person.

Every touch has a purpose. It is slow, calm, and respectful. I always explain what I am doing, and you are always welcome to tell me what feels good and what you would like me to change.

No explanations needed

You never owe me a reason. If you want to talk, I will listen. If you want silence, we will have silence. If tears come, you can let them come. I will hand you a tissue, place a warm towel, and keep caring for you.

Your stories stay here

What you share in my treatment room stays in my treatment room. On your next visit, I follow your lead. I will never bring up something personal unless you do.

How I Check In Before Your Treatment

Before every facial, I ask a few questions that go beyond your skin type. Questions like:

  • How are you feeling about your skin today?

  • Is there anything I can do to help you feel more comfortable?

  • Would you like to relax quietly, or would you like me to tell you about the products as I use them?

Your answers help me understand what kind of experience you need that day. Some days you may want to learn everything about your skin. Other days you may just want to close your eyes and rest. Both are perfect.

Over time, these small conversations build trust. And trust is what turns a facial from a service into a safe place.

Small Acts of Kindness Matter

The ASCP article uses an image I love: people who are quietly struggling can look like ducks gliding on a pond. Calm on top, working hard underneath where nobody sees.

I meet clients like this all the time. They show up looking put together. They are kind, they are funny, they are busy. And sometimes, an hour on my table is the first time all month they have been able to stop paddling.

That is why I believe small acts of kindness matter so much. A warm blanket. A soft voice. A moment of patience. Hearing “you never have to apologize here.” These small things can mean more than we will ever know.

Bringing a Little of That Calm Home

The peace you feel on my table does not have to end when you walk out the door. Your daily skincare routine can become a small moment of calm too.

When you wash your face at night, slow down. Use warm water and gentle, unhurried movements. Take a few deep breaths while your serum absorbs. Press your moisturizer in with your palms instead of rushing through it. These few minutes can become a quiet ritual that tells your body the day is done.

I often remind my clients that self-care does not have to be big or expensive to matter. Sometimes it is simply giving yourself two minutes of kindness in front of the mirror. When you come back for your next facial, we pick up right where we left off, and your skin and your spirit both get a little more care.

Who This Space Is For

The truth is, this space is for everyone. But I especially want you to know you are welcome here if:

  • You are going through a hard season and need an hour just for yourself.

  • You are walking through cancer treatment or recovery and want care that honors what your skin and body have been through.

  • You are a caregiver, a parent, a nurse, a teacher, or anyone who spends their days taking care of others.

  • You feel nervous about spa visits or have felt intimidated in beauty spaces before.

  • You are not sure why you want a facial. You just know you need a moment of peace.

You do not need the perfect words or a reason. Wanting to feel cared for is reason enough.

Your Skin Benefits Too

Of course, I am still your esthetician, and your skin is still in expert hands. Every facial at Soluna Vee Spa is customized to what your skin needs that day, using professional skincare lines I trust and have trained in.

When your mind is calm, it is easier to enjoy the experience and stay consistent with the home care that keeps your results going. Many clients tell me they leave feeling better about their skin and better about themselves. That combination is what I love most about my work.

If your skin is extra sensitive, reactive, or recovering from treatment, my Compassionate Facial Series, including the Green Tea Serenity Facial, was created with you in mind.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I became an esthetician because I love skin. I stayed because of moments like the ones I described at the beginning of this post.

You may never know that the hour you spent on my table helped you get through a hard week. I may never know either. But I know that every client deserves to walk out feeling a little more seen, a little more cared for, and a little more like themselves.

That is the difference I want to make in Colorado Springs, one facial at a time.
